This is the time of year where we get some great tarpon fishing if the weather allows. The water temps right now are ideal for big tarpon to come into the backcountry of the Everglades
It has been windy this entire winter thus far, which makes fishing for them tough but still doable. These fish are typically in the 60-80lb range. Having such windy conditions, the most practical way of catching these guys are with plugs. You can cover a lot of water and wind is typically non factor. I like setting up with the wind and drifting into them while casting long distances with big plugs. Once March hits and if it stays warm, we will being fishing these guys almost exclusively.
