We are definitely in our Fall pattern down here in the Everglades.  There is a ton of bait along the Gulf coast.  There has been some big tarpon showing up chasing the schools of mullet and when we find them, they have been eating flies and plugs.   The snook and redfishing has also been excellent.  Plenty of fish from the Gulf coast to the way backcountry.  I think the best fishing over the past few weeks has been the baby Tarpon.  They are Everywhere!!! That is a great sign for things to come.

Give me a call or email to get out and experince the Fall fishing in the Everglades!

The redfishing, snook, and baby tarpon fishing has been on fire on the lower stages of the tides.  We have been sightfishing these guys and they have been a ton of fun.  This is definitely the time of year for a slam!
As we move into the Fall, the fishing should only get better with the push of bait down the Gulf Coast.  Give me a call or  email to get out on the water!  Best part about this time of year is we rarely see another boat all day!

Alot of craziness going on in the world at the moment. Everything is closing down including a lot of the ramps in South Florida. Flamingo has been closed down for a few weeks now, so the only access into Everglades National Park is through Everglades City and Chokoloskee. The good thing is the park waters remain open. I will be fishing out of EC or Chokoloskee until Flamingo opens back up. I have had most of my trips in April cancelled due to travel restrictions and closures. If you are local and want to get out for a day on the water in complete isolation, give me a call or email. Here is what has been going in the Everglades the last few weeks-

The fishing continues to be very good out of Flamingo  There has been a big push of bait through the Everglades which has brought a lot of fish south chasing them.  The tarpon have been around hanging in the creeks and rivers ambushing bait as it flows in and out on the tides.  These fish have been in the 30lb-70lb class.  A great fish on the fly or light tackle!
The snook fishing remains very good.  They have been everywhere from the way backcountry to the Gulf Coast.  There has also been some redfish mixed in with these schools of snook.
I still have some dates open for the end of the year.  This can be some great fishing with some giant tarpon moving in the backcountry on good weather days.
My spring Tarpon Season is filling up so let me know if you want some prime dates this upcoming spring.

Next to our Spring season, this is by far the BEST time to fish in the Everglades. This is what I call our second Tarpon season. Nobody on the water, unlike the spring and there are lots of tarpon around that are usually very aggressive. Most of the fish are between 30lbs.-60lbs. In my opinion, that is the best size fish to catch. Once we get a push of bait, then some of the really big tarpon move in. That is usually later this month. Don’t miss out on some incredible fishing this month!

The snook fishing has also been very good. We have caught them literally all over the Everglades, from deep in the backcountry to the Gulf Coast. Recently, the baby tarpon fishing has been incredible. Lots of little guys roaming around the backcountry. Should be a great sign for things to come!

Give me a call and let’s get out on the water.

I got last minute cancellation today, so I can finally catch up on a fishing report.  The tarpon fishing is starting to heat up down in the Everglades.   We have gotten some good shots over the last few weeks on some really nice fish.  It should get better as  we move along this Spring with more tarpon showing up.

If we can somehow break away from the tarpon fishing, the snook bite has been very good as well.  Lots of little guys around but we have ran into a couple of big ones over the last few weeks.
Last but not least, with the low water levels all over the Everglades, we have experienced some of the best bass fishing that I have seen in a very long time.
Give me a call or email to get out on the water.  It is shaping up to be a great Spring!

We had our first real cold front of the season.  The weather dipped down tot he 50s and the water temp dipped down to the high 60s.  That’s cold by South Florida’s standards. Before the cold front there big tarpon in Whitewater Bay.  After the front the tarpon left town but will be back once it warms up again.  That will be the pattern for the next few months.

The snook fishing continues to be excellent with lots of fish around and it should only get better as we move into the winter months.  This is some of my favorite fishing of the year.  Bushwhacking our way back to some remote lakes and pons which can result in some incredible snook fishing.

The red tide of 2018 has been worse in recent Florida history.  Red Tide is a natural occurrence, but when fueled by releases from Lake O that are loaded with nutrients, it turns into a ecological disaster.  When this happens it causes not only havoc on the environment but also on the wildlife.  It has killed hundreds if not thousands of fish, manatees, dolphins, and other wildlife.  It has even pushed around the state and has been detected on the east coast of Florida.

The good news is it has not been in the Everglades.  It has stayed to the north and offshore.  We have been very lucky on this one because it has been in the Everglades in years past.  There has been no sign of it and the fishing continues to be excellent.  The bait is everywhere which keeps the gamefish close.  Hopefully we start getting some cold fronts and that will help kill the red tide tot he north.

The snook and redfishing has also been great with all the bait around.  We have caught them from the deep in the backountry to the coast.  A lot of smaller fish hanging around which is always a good sign for the fishery!
I do have some fall dates open, so give me call or email to get out of the water!

The fishing down in Everglades National Park has been nothing short of epic.  Lots of medium tarpon, ranging from 20-40 pounds, eating small fry bait on the Gulf Coast.  They have been very willing to eat a fly or a plug.  We have been getting them on flies almost every trip out.  Constantly putting the fly in their face has been the key.

The snook fishing has also been excellent.  We have caught fish from the Gulf to deep in the backcountry.  It has been great to see so many snook around.  We have crushed them on both fly and jigs.  They have ranged in size from 20 in.-35 in.

The biggest surprise has been the redfish.  There has been a big insurgence of smaller fish in the Everglades.  We have caught tons of under slot reds.  This has been great to see and a good sign of things to come.
