]]> It has been a while since my last report and I just wanted to catch up with what’s going on in the Everglades.  There is still some tarpon hanging around but looks like our first cold front is coming next week and that should mix things up a bit.  This time of year they will be active between the cold fronts.  The snook fishing has been solid with all the bait that has been in the area.  The redfishing has been really good, from the coast out to the flats.  The sight fishing outfront of Flamingo on the calmer days has been as good as I have seen in a while.  A Lot of snook and reds up shallow on the flats.
I still have plenty of open days throughout the rest of the year.  With the air temps coming down, there is nothing better than spending a day in the Everglades!  Give me a call or email to get out on the water!

]]> The fishing over the past few weeks has been very good despite the tough weather conditions we have had.  We have had a ton of rain over the past few weeks and it seems like the baby tarpon are everywhere.  We have had some great days recently fishing for them and have caught them in places that I have never seen them in.
It has been unseasonably warm down here and the bigger tarpon are still hanging around.  When the weather allows, we have had some great days jumping fish in 40lb-80lb class.  Great fish for this time of year!
I still have some open dates in December and tarpon season is starting to fill up, so give me a call or email to get out and spend a day in the Glades.

]]> We are definitely in our Fall pattern down here in the Everglades.  There is a ton of bait along the Gulf coast.  There has been some big tarpon showing up chasing the schools of mullet and when we find them, they have been eating flies and plugs.   The snook and redfishing has also been excellent.  Plenty of fish from the Gulf coast to the way backcountry.  I think the best fishing over the past few weeks has been the baby Tarpon.  They are Everywhere!!! That is a great sign for things to come.

]]> Hope everybody is doing well.  The fishing in the Glades has been very good.  There has been a ton of tarpon around in the mornings and most days we have had them all to ourselves.  These fish are in the 30-60lb range.

The redfishing, snook, and baby tarpon fishing has been on fire on the lower stages of the tides.  We have been sightfishing these guys and they have been a ton of fun.  This is definitely the time of year for a slam!

Alot of craziness going on in the world at the moment. Everything is closing down including a lot of the ramps in South Florida. Flamingo has been closed down for a few weeks now, so the only access into Everglades National Park is through Everglades City and Chokoloskee. The good thing is the park waters remain open. I will be fishing out of EC or Chokoloskee until Flamingo opens back up. I have had most of my trips in April cancelled due to travel restrictions and closures. ]]> The fishing down in the Everglades has been very good lately.  The tarpon have been extremely thick with the bait almost everywhere.  We have found creek mouths with bait pouring out of them and tarpon doing backflips on the bait.  It has been pretty cool to see it.  Those fish have not been easy to hook but we have managed a few bites while watching the display of the tarpon doing their thing.

 

The sight fishing has also been really good lately for redfish and snook.  A bunch of fish outfront on the flats and also on the Gulf coast.

 

The overall fishing has been very good in the Everglades and should continue throughout the Fall.

]]> You can definitely start feeling that Fall is in the air down here in South Florida.  The humidity is down and we are going to start to see some cold fronts blow through every few days.  The fishing in the backcountry has been very good over the last week or so.  There are some bigger tarpon hanging around especially with the bait that is all over the Everglades.  The pattern for tarpon over the next couple of months will have them moving in and out of the Everglades based on water temperature.  As long as it stays warm they will be tarpon somewhere.
The snook and redfishing in the backcountry will only get better and its been good!  More and more fish will move into the backcountry as the water temperature drops.  Some of my favorite fishing of the year.
I will be running some trips out of Jon boat to some very remote areas in the Everglades, fishing for snook, redfish, and baby tarpon.  That style of fishing should really turn on in the next few weeks.

]]> The red tide of 2018 has been worse in recent Florida history.  Red Tide is a natural occurrence, but when fueled by releases from Lake O that are loaded with nutrients, it turns into a ecological disaster.  When this happens it causes not only havoc on the environment but also on the wildlife.  It has killed hundreds if not thousands of fish, manatees, dolphins, and other wildlife.  It has even pushed around the state and has been detected on the east coast of Florida.

 

The good news is it has not been in the Everglades.  It has stayed to the north and offshore.  We have been very lucky on this one because it has been in the Everglades in years past.  There has been no sign of it and the fishing continues to be excellent.  The bait is everywhere which keeps the gamefish close.  Hopefully we start getting some cold fronts and that will help kill the red tide tot he north.

]]> Fishing continues to be pretty good down in the Everglades.  There has been a big push of bait down the Gulf Coast, which has kept plenty of fish on the coast.  We have had some great tarpon fishing when the wind lays down bit, with plenty of fish in the 10-50lb range.  I suspect some bigger fish will show up over the next few weeks with the push of mullet south.
The snook and redfishing has also been great with all the bait around.  We have caught them from the deep in the backountry to the coast.  A lot of smaller fish hanging around which is always a good sign for the fishery!
