I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.  The fishing has remained pretty solid over the last month or so.  The bigger tarpon are around out on the Gulf coast and have been pretty active.   This should be the pattern until the cold fronts start showing up around November.
The snook fishing in the backcountry has been excellent.  Lots of fish around of all sizes.  I have taken my Jon boat as far back as we can go and there has been lots of action of snook, redfish, and baby tarpon.
I have plenty of dates open over the next few weeks and into the Fall.    Fishing has been great, so give me a call or email and lets fish!

If the weather lines up in your favor, this time of year can be some of the best fishing for big Tarpon.   The warm days in between the fronts can be some epic fishing.  Big tarpon will show up and warm themselves in the backcountry.  The water warms up faster over dark mud and if the wind lays down the tarpon will float to the surface.  Some of the most exciting fishing of the year.

The redfishing, snook, and baby tarpon fishing has been on fire on the lower stages of the tides.  We have been sightfishing these guys and they have been a ton of fun.  This is definitely the time of year for a slam!
As we move into the Fall, the fishing should only get better with the push of bait down the Gulf Coast.  Give me a call or  email to get out on the water!  Best part about this time of year is we rarely see another boat all day!

Alot of craziness going on in the world at the moment. Everything is closing down including a lot of the ramps in South Florida. Flamingo has been closed down for a few weeks now, so the only access into Everglades National Park is through Everglades City and Chokoloskee. The good thing is the park waters remain open. I will be fishing out of EC or Chokoloskee until Flamingo opens back up. I have had most of my trips in April cancelled due to travel restrictions and closures. If you are local and want to get out for a day on the water in complete isolation, give me a call or email. Here is what has been going in the Everglades the last few weeks-

The fishing down in the Everglades has been very good lately.  The tarpon have been extremely thick with the bait almost everywhere.  We have found creek mouths with bait pouring out of them and tarpon doing backflips on the bait.  It has been pretty cool to see it.  Those fish have not been easy to hook but we have managed a few bites while watching the display of the tarpon doing their thing.

The sight fishing has also been really good lately for redfish and snook.  A bunch of fish outfront on the flats and also on the Gulf coast.

The overall fishing has been very good in the Everglades and should continue throughout the Fall.

Give me a call or email

The fishing continues to be very good out of Flamingo  There has been a big push of bait through the Everglades which has brought a lot of fish south chasing them.  The tarpon have been around hanging in the creeks and rivers ambushing bait as it flows in and out on the tides.  These fish have been in the 30lb-70lb class.  A great fish on the fly or light tackle!
The snook fishing remains very good.  They have been everywhere from the way backcountry to the Gulf Coast.  There has also been some redfish mixed in with these schools of snook.
I still have some dates open for the end of the year.  This can be some great fishing with some giant tarpon moving in the backcountry on good weather days.
My spring Tarpon Season is filling up so let me know if you want some prime dates this upcoming spring.

This month it has been all about the tarpon, both big and small.  It has really been a great month for tarpon fishing.  There has been a lot of baby tarpon around, which is typically for summer time especially with the amount of rain we have had.    There has also been a lot of fish between 30-60lbs hanging around.  We have done really well on both fly and plugs this month.  The best part about it is you have the entire place to yourselves.
September is great month in the Everglades.  There are plenty of tarpon and snook around.  I have also been hearing about some great tailing redfish outfront on the flats.  It is definitely some of the best fishing of the year.

The red tide of 2018 has been worse in recent Florida history.  Red Tide is a natural occurrence, but when fueled by releases from Lake O that are loaded with nutrients, it turns into a ecological disaster.  When this happens it causes not only havoc on the environment but also on the wildlife.  It has killed hundreds if not thousands of fish, manatees, dolphins, and other wildlife.  It has even pushed around the state and has been detected on the east coast of Florida.

The good news is it has not been in the Everglades.  It has stayed to the north and offshore.  We have been very lucky on this one because it has been in the Everglades in years past.  There has been no sign of it and the fishing continues to be excellent.  The bait is everywhere which keeps the gamefish close.  Hopefully we start getting some cold fronts and that will help kill the red tide tot he north.

The snook and redfishing has also been great with all the bait around.  We have caught them from the deep in the backountry to the coast.  A lot of smaller fish hanging around which is always a good sign for the fishery!
I do have some fall dates open, so give me call or email to get out of the water!

It has been a very rainy season and that is about all you can ask for in the Everglades.  Keeping the Everglades hydrated is the most important thing for the entire ecosystem.  Keeping the salinity levels down is very important to the grass flats and all of Florida Bay.  In the backcountry, the rain keeps the water extremely clear which the snook and redfish like.  We saw this last year right after Hurricane Irma.  Irma dumped a ton of rain which flushed out the whole backcountry area.  The snook fishing thrived because of it.  Then this spring, we had some dry periods and with without freshwater regulating the salinity levels, it get really dirty.  That makes for very tough fishing.

September is typically a great time to fish in the Everglades.  The fishing is as good as it gets all year and you don’t have to worry about anyone else being out there.  That has been the case over the last few weeks.
