Ever since he was a kid, he has always loved the
thrill and the excitement fly fishing gave him. Because of that, he has dedicated his life to being
a fishing guide teaching and helping the novice to the expert fishers in getting their most
amazing catch of a lifetime.
Jason Sullivan came from South Florida. He took college at FAU and Nova Southeastern
University because of a baseball scholarship. After college and a few years playing minor league
baseball, he went back to fishing at Everglades National Park. He now works as a full-time fly
fishing guide and he has had a number of new and repeat customers that gave great reviews.
He was also hailed as the Orvis' Fly Fishing Guide of the Year.
Orvis is a world-renowned retailer for fly-fishing equipment. It started at Manchester, Vermont
by Charles F. Orvis with a mission to protect the environment and at the same time foster a
deep relationship between it and their customers. Today, Orvis has expanded to cater to other
sporting goods like shooting and fishing apparel, luggage, souvenir items, and even dog
products. It has adopted “We Love Dogs” outlook and they have been active in learning and
teaching about the proper care for dogs.
A good thing about Orvis is that they have been staying true to their roots by preserving their
heritage and everything that the environment has to offer. They even donate 5% of their
revenues to organizations that protect the environment and organizations that promote dogs
well-being.
Aside from selling sporting equipment and products and its philanthropic cause to preserve the
environment, Orvis has its own fly fishing school. For 50 years, it has expanded to all parts of
the United States and until this day, they continue to teach people the basics and techniques
for proper fly fishing. It also has its fly fishing school at Everglades National Park.
Going back to Captain Jason Sullivan, his favorite place to fly fish is at Everglades National Park.
The Everglades is a great place for fishing because there are about 300 different species of fish
there. It's a combination of mangroves, flats, and creeks that you can access all throughout the
year. There are about a million people who visit Everglades every year and each person
whether it's their first time or not, finds something they love about the whole ecosystem. Even
if it's raining, you don't have to worry about getting blown away because the forest-like
mangroves serve as protection from harsh weather.
The Everglades National Park is also known as the River of Grass because aside from an
abundance of fishes, the area is teeming with many species of birds. You can find the Wood
Stork, Great Blue Heron, and Roseate Spoonbill in the area. It is also the only place where
alligators and crocodiles live together. That in itself says something about the Everglades. It
truly has a wide range of species and can serve as a habitat for a lot of animals. Those are just
some of the reasons why you should visit the place when you are in Florida.
There's a place at Everglades that Captain Jason Sullivan is particularly fond of. It's called the
Flamingo. Flamingo is at the southern area of Everglades and it has a lot of areas where you can
find diverse types of fish. In just one day, you can fish for snook, tarpon, redfish, and bass. It has
also become a world-class fishing place where anglers all over the States visit.
When asked about his favorite species of fish, Sullivan stated that his favorite was the tarpon.
He loves the thrill of fishing tarpon aside from the fact that they never run out. Tarpons are
migratory fishes found in most waters of Florida especially in the Everglades. They can survive
both in freshwater and saltwater because they can breathe air directly. They are mostly
covered in silver scales except for the top which is blue green.
Sullivan’s love for tarpon fishing is incredible. He spends most of his time guiding customers to
catch tarpon and he even has the patience to catch them even if they fight for more than 20
minutes. During his days off from work, he says he would still fish for tarpon during the early
seasons.
When asked why people should choose him as a fly fishing guide, Sullivan replied that he stands
out from most guides because of his passion for fishing. He is a very passionate fly fishing guide
and his passion is contagious. In fact, reviews online of people who have been his customers
commend Jason Sullivan for his love for fishing. He seems to be more enthusiastic for his
customers to catch a fish at the Everglades National Park than the customers themselves.
To add to that, Sullivan is very knowledgeable in fly fishing. Like what was mentioned earlier, he
has spent most of his life visiting the Everglades National Park to fish because it's also his
pastime. He claims that he is one of the most hardworking guides in the area and is rightly so.
His extensive experience in fishing gives you the assurance that he knows what he's doing. To
add to that, he is also an endorsed fly fishing guide by Orvis. And Orvis does not endorse who
are not knowledgeable and professional in their work.
By being an endorsed fly fishing guide by Orvis, it comes with the title that Jason Sullivan is a
professional. He treats his clients well and with the utmost respect. His main goal is for them to
enjoy and be safe during their trip to the Everglades. A number of people can even attest to
Sullivan's excellent customer relationships. Some even expressed wanting to go fly fishing with
him again or recommending him to their friends. It doesn’t matter whether it’s your first time
to fish or if you are already an expert. Captain Jason Sullivan will make sure that you get the
most out of your fly fishing trip with him.
