The park road still remains closed, so we are launching out of the upper Keys and making the run over to Flamingo. The winds have been down, which makes it alot more comfortable of a run. The baby tarpon fishing has been excellent with fish in the 5-25lb range. In almost every spot that typical hols tarpon, they have been there in big numbers. This is pretty typical for this time of year. Since Hurricane Irma dumped so much rain in the Everglades, there is ton of freshwater flowing south.
Tarpon love fresh water and are gorging on the minnows. This is perfect for the fly angler as they can match the hatch. We have been getting over ten bites a day and bringing alot of fish boatside. This is deffinitely a great time to fly fish the Everglades!
