The weather the past few week has been pretty good for August. It has been warm and most days we have had light winds. With the air temps being so warm, the water temps are in mid to high 80’s, which is ideal for tarpon. The tarpon fishing in the backcountry of the Everglades has been as good as I have seen in while. Lots and lots of big fish from the rivers to the north to Whitewater Bay. We have had some days hooking multiple fish up to 120lbs on fly, plugs, and bait.
There are also a ton of baby tarpon around. The key is to find them early and if you do, you can put a lot of fish in the air.
