We are closing on the end of January and we just had another cold front blow through South Florida. This front came with lots of rain. When this happens, you just have to slow down while fishing. Fish will school up in a little deeper water and it can be pretty good. This happens this time of year about every 3-5 days with water temps dipping into the low 60s. If we have a loner than usually time in between the fronts and the water warms to the mid 70s, the bigger tarpon will move into the backcountry. When this happens, it can be some of the best tarpon fishing of the year. It is very hard to predict because the fronts have a mind of there own.
Since this front brought alot of rain, the water levels rose a little bit in the freshwater side of the Everglades. When this happens it spreads the bass all over the flats and makes it tough to find them at times. Now that the front has passed and rain has subsided, the water levels will start to drop and the fishing should take off again.
