I hope everyone had a great holiday season and Happy New Year!  2025 was a great year and I want to thank everyone who fished with me.  Looking forward to another great year on the water!  Fishing down in Flamingo has been pretty darn good lately with the warmer weather we have had.  There have been a bunch of BIG tarpon in the backcountry on some of those warmer days.  I think we are in for a good year of snook fishing due to the drier conditions.  When the water falls in the backcountry, there are less places for them to hide.  It looks like we are on the way to having a drier winter down here and  that also bodes well for our peacock and Largemouth bass.
I am excited for what’s to come in the next few months,  I feel it is going to be a great year of fishing,  Give me a call or respond to this email to get out on the water!!!!

Fishing continues to be pretty good down in the Everglades.  There has been a big push of bait down the Gulf Coast, which has kept plenty of fish on the coast.  We have had some great tarpon fishing when the wind lays down bit, with plenty of fish in the 10-50lb range.  I suspect some bigger fish will show up over the next few weeks with the push of mullet south.
The snook and redfishing has also been great with all the bait around.  We have caught them from the deep in the backountry to the coast.  A lot of smaller fish hanging around which is always a good sign for the fishery!
I do have some fall dates open, so give me call or email to get out of the water!

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  Just wanted to give you a quick update on how the fishing has been in the Everglades.  There are still plenty of tarpon around to target, we have gotten into them on fly and spin.  Most of the fish have been in the 30-50lb range, with a few in the 60lb class.  The snook fishing has also been very good.  There has been some bigger fish out near the Gulf and lots of smaller fish in to the backcountry. The redfish has been the big surprise lately.  We have ran into a bunch of 15-18in redfish all along the Gulf coast.
We have had lots of rain in the Glades this summer and that is a good thing for the entire Everglades ecosystem.   We should start to see a good push of some bigger tarpon over the next few weeks.  Give me a call or email to get on the water!  The best thing about this time of year is, the fishing is great and you hardly see another boat all day.
I  have also added a Jon boat to the fleet.  So if kicking around through the mangroves to get back to some untouched bays is your cup of tea, we can definitely do that.

I hope everyone is having a great summer so far.  The fishing down in the Everglades continues to be pretty darn good.  We have had lots of rain so far this summer, which really helps the fishing and the overall health of the Everglades.  The summer tarpon fishing has been good with lots of fish in the 30-60lb range.  We have had some great days this summer catching them on both fly and plugs.

Since we have had such a wet summer so far, the snook fishing has really turned on.  The freshwater pushes through the backcountry and really cleans it up.  We have caught a ton of smaller snook but have also got into some overslot size snook.   This should be the pattern for the next few months.

It has been a while since my last report and just wanted to give everyone an update on what is going on in the Everglades. It has been a very busy spring thus far and I have been on the water almost everyday. The tarpon fishing has been excellent with lots of fish in the 40-80lb range. We have been getting lots of bites on fly and plugs everyday. This is has been a great tarpon season with lots of fish jumped and landed. It helps when there has been this amount of fish around this season. It should be great summer fishing with these fish around.

It is hard to leave the tarpon but when we do, the snook and bass fishing has also been pretty good due to the low water levels. We have caught those fish on both fly and plugs.

I am definitely looking forward to the summer fishing! I have only a few days open in May but have some days open in June. So give me a call or respond to these email to get out on the water!

We have had some crazy weather over the last few weeks. Early this month it was extremely cold and windy and now it feels like the middle of spring. With the warm weather, the big tarpon
have pushed into the backcountry. This time of year we hook some of the biggest tarpon of the year. Most fish are 60-80lbs. but it is not uncommon to hook fish into the 130-150 lb class. There has been lots of fish around and we have been getting them both on plugs and flies.

The snook fishing is also very good right now with the warm weather. If you can find some good clean water, then you will definitely find some snook.

If this is any indication of our tarpon season, looks like we are in for a good one!

It is finally starting to warm back up in the Everglades which is making the fish extremely active again. Over the last few weeks water temps have dropped into the low 50s, which is really low for South Florida. The good thing is it has warmed up and I haven’t seen any dead fish in Everglades National Park like we did in 2010.

The winter time snook fishing has been by far the best fishing we have had. Lots of little fish with some bigger ones mixed in. Most were caught on flies and plugs. The baby tarpon are still around and have been pretty active lately as well.

The water levels have dropped significantly due to the consecutive days with 20+ knot winds. That means the snook and bass fishing should really get turned on. We had a great day catching over 40 Bass on the freshwater side of the Everglades.

The big tarpon have showed up with water temps back into the 70s, but we just need the wind to lay down!

Tarpon season is right around the corner and I only have a few days in early March and early April left open. I do have some availability in May to sight fish big tarpon down in the Keys with a fly rod.

Give me a call or respond to this email to get out on the water.

Hope everyone is off to a great 2018. We just had a major cold front where water temperatures dipped into the mid 50s, which definitely slowed down the snook fishing. It is now back up to the high 60s and fishing has gotten better each day since. That will be the pattern for the next few months. On the days in between the fronts the big tarpon will show up if water warms up to the mid 70s.

The sightfishing for redfish and snook is great this time of year because they warm themselves on the mud flats in the backcountry. If the conditions are right it can be some great fishing.

Tarpon season is right around the corner and I still have a some days in March and April open to chase these monsters! I will also be doing some Oceanside tarpon fishing in May out of Islamorada and Biscayne Bay. That is pretty much some of the best sightfishing for tarpon we have down here.

We just had a big good cold front blow through the South Florida late last week into the weekend. That slowed the fishing down for the most part in the backcountry. The fish were down deep and required some live bait and shrimp to entice a bite. The good thing is that right after the front, fish get really active because they haven’t eaten much in the last few days. The weather is calling for a warming week which will really turn on the bite. Looking forward to some great fishing this week.

The park road down to Flamingo is still closed at the moment but I believe they are really close to opening it up. I am still fishing out of the upper keys and running across Florida Bay to reach Flamingo. The fishing has been excellent out font on the flats for baby tarpon. We have caught them on fly and plugs. The fish have ranged from 5 lbs- 30lbs and there has been a lot of them. Some days we have had over 10 bites on flies and plugs!!

There has been some snook and redfish around on the lower stages of the tide when the water is a little bit cleaner. Sometimes it is hard to pull away from the tarpon though. Looks like the wind is going to lay down and we have some great tides over the next week. Give me a call to book a trip with an Everglades fly fishing guide
