It has been a tough couple of weeks for almost everybody in Florida with Hurricane Irma. My heart definitely goes out to people in the islands, lower keys, and SW coast of Florida as they got hit the hardest. I know they will bounce back stronger than ever.
Before the storm, the fishing was excellent for baby tarpon out front of Flamingo. Yesterday was the first day out since the storm. The park road is closed and maybe for while as they take care of the damages, as the eye wall went right around cape sable. The water actually looked clean until you got west of the marina. West of the marina was still churned up. I think as far as fishing goes, this will be a good thing for the ecosystem and the fishing should be great. There was a lot of tarpon around yesterday, which is a great sign! I ran over from Key Largo, which I will do until the park road opens.
