The tarpon fishing over he past few weeks has been just awesome. Lots of big fish floating around and lots of exciting eats. These fish are so strong and powerful and so much fun on fly and light tackle. A lot of the times when throwing spin gear, getting the bite and a few jumps is about all you can get out them. They are at times hard to land because the throw the hook so easy. On fly, it is a little easier to stay tight to because you can usually get a better hook set. Either way, when the conditions are right, it is a lot of fun targeting these fish. This winter has been some of the best tarpon fishing that I have seen in a long time. As I write this report, we have a front blowing through South Florida, so that will shut down the tarpon fishing until it warms back up.
