Fishing Report

The fishing in Everglades National Park still remains the best option in South Florida for this time of year. The bait run really hasn’t happened yet up to the north. There is always plenty of bait down in the Everglades. The tarpon and snook fishing has been pretty darn good early in the morning. It does slow down a bit once mid day hits but if you are out on the water when the sun is coming up, it is as good as can be. We also should get a good push of bait on the coast and some big tarpon should be showing up. I love this time of year! I have a few open days open over the next few weeks, so give me a call and lets get out on the...

Summer time in the Everglades

We are in the dog days of August right now. It is hot and the thunder storms are popping up daily. The water temps are in the high 80s and low 90s by mid day. Its hot! One way we are dealing with this is getting out extremely early in the morning. Sometimes we have left the dock at an hour before sun up. By doing so, we are getting some of the best fishing of the year. Those first few hours, right as the sun is coming up, is incredible. There is no sense of awareness for these fish and they are eating everything in sight. Last week we hooked 8 tarpon on topwater plugs just as the sun was peaking over the horizon. Most of the fish were 40-50 pounds. By the time noon rolls around the fishing really slows down but getting out early makes all the difference in the world. I have a hard time believing there is a better tarpon fishery than Everglades National...

Tarpon Fishing

The weather the past few week has been pretty good for August. It has been warm and most days we have had light winds. With the air temps being so warm, the water temps are in mid to high 80’s, which is ideal for tarpon. The tarpon fishing in the backcountry of the Everglades has been as good as I have seen in while. Lots and lots of big fish from the rivers to the north to Whitewater Bay. We have had some days hooking multiple fish up to 120lbs on fly, plugs, and bait. There are also a ton of baby tarpon around. The key is to find them early and if you do, you can put a lot of fish in the air. a...

Everglades Fishing Report

It has been a hot summer so far down here, weather and fishing! There has been a good number of tarpon in the 20-40lb class and most days they have been pretty aggressive if you can find them early. We have been launching almost an hour before the sun is up and have been rewarded big time for it. We have caught them on fly and plugs over the last few weeks. Once we come off this full moon, some bigger tarpon should up along with some good numbers of snook. Over the next few weeks is a really great time to fish the Everglades. Lack of boats and a lot of good...

Flamingo Fishing Report

It has been a while since my last report and I wanted to give you a quick update of what is going on in the Everglades. I have been fishing almost everyday and things are now to starting to slow down a little for me. The fishing has been really good, especially the tarpon. We have had a lot rain this summer and I believe tarpon love freshwater. There has been a good number of tarpon in the backcountry and on the coast. We have gotten them on fly and plugs with fish being anywhere between 40lbs-80lbs. The best part of this time of the year is there are lots of fish around and most days you have the entire place to yourself! I do have some days open the rest of the summer, so give me a call to get out on the...
