Tarpon Fishing in the Everglades

Since Hurricane Irma blew through South Florida, the bigger tarpon have shown up more and more each day. There is a ton of bait on the Gulf Coast and big schools of tarpon ranging from 40-100lbs. There is a lot of freshwater flowing through the Everglades, due to Irma, and has pushed a lot of fish. We have caught them on fly and plugs over the last few weeks. This is some of the best tarpon fishing of the year. There is not a lot of pressure but a lot of fish around. The Everglades right now is full of big tarpon, so give me a call and lets put some fish in the air! Capt....

Miami Fishing Guide

The fishing in and around Miami over the last few weeks has been pretty good. There are lots of bait around we are getting a good push of tarpon and snook. Getting out with a full time Miami fishing guide is very important when considering hiring a guide for the day. Being on the water everyday is a huge advantage for any fisherman. The fish certainly move around on a daily basis, so knowing where they are is key to having a successful day. Give me a call to get out on the...

Flamingo Fishing Report

After not having any pressure for almost a month, the backcountry was full of life. There is a ton of freshwater pouring into the Everglades which is always much needed. The baby tarpon fishing has been excellent!! From Florida Bay to the backcountry of Flamingo has held a huge number of baby tarpon from 5lbs-30lbs. Earlier in the week we did not see any big tarpon , which is not normal for this time of the year, but we found some mid week and they should show up in big numbers over the next few weeks. The snook fishing has also been really good. Lots of little guys and some big female overslot fish out in the gulf. If this week is a sign of things to come, it is going to be a great fall and winter in the Everglades. A lot of days are booking up, so if you are thinking about getting on the water, give me a call or email and lets go have some fun! All the best, Capt. Flamingo

The great news from the weekend is the National park announced that Flamingo is back open. All the boats ramps on both sides on the marina are open and safe. That is the only thing that is open down at Flamingo. The store, visitor center, bathrooms, and camp grounds are all closed due to the damage from Hurricane Irma . That is great news for everyone who fishes out Flamingo. The park hasn’t been fished in a month and it showed. We had a great weekend of catching a bunch of tarpon and snook on fly. The fish were very aggressive and willing to eat almost everything thing that they saw. I have a few openings this week so let me know if you want to get out on the...

Everglades Fishing Report

The park road down to Flamingo is still closed at the moment but I believe they are really close to opening it up. I am still fishing out of the upper keys and running across Florida Bay to reach Flamingo. The fishing has been excellent out font on the flats for baby tarpon. We have caught them on fly and plugs. The fish have ranged from 5 lbs- 30lbs and there has been a lot of them. Some days we have had over 10 bites on flies and plugs!! There has been some snook and redfish around on the lower stages of the tide when the water is a little bit cleaner. Sometimes it is hard to pull away from the tarpon though. Looks like the wind is going to lay down and we have some great tides over the next week. Give me a call to book a trip with an Everglades fly fishing...
